Fujian Medical University Appointed 35 Guest Professors Recently

At the celebration ceremony on the official establishment of AAFMUA held in New York City on March 11, 2000, Prof. Jiwu Gao, Vice President of Fujian Medical University, on behalf of FMU, announced the recent appointment of 35 guest professors by Fujian Medical University. Combined with 3 guest professors appointed in the past years, there are now 40 guest professors among our alumni (see the list at the end of this report).

Based on the scientific accomplishments in research and clinical medicine, as well as the past and future contributions to our home university for promoting its medical education, clinical medicine and scientific research, FMU and AAFMUA have set a general guideline for the recommendation and appointment of guest professors among our alumni in the U.S. The major qualifications include: 1. Hold a faculty position of Assistant Professor or higher (or equivalents) at academic institutions, and a senior postdoctoral fellow with Ph.D. degree will also qualify; or 2. Hold a clinical position of Attending Physician in a hospital, and a senior resident or clinical fellow with Ph.D. degree will also qualify; or 3. Hold a research position of Senior Scientist or higher at industries, plus 4. To be able and willing to make scientific or educational contributions to FMU.

AAFMUA strongly encourages our alumni who qualify for the above criteria to apply for this honorary and academic appointment. AAFMUA also encourages those alumni who currently do not qualify for the above criteria but have outstanding research or clinical accomplishments to apply for this appointment. Please be advised that the decision on the appointment of Guest Professor of FMU will be made by FMU.
