Twenty Eight FJMU Students Awarded Shen Yunying Scholar; Ceremony Held in Fuzhou, China November 14, 2006

(Webmaster 11/14/2006) An award ceremony is held in Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China today for 28 students who will receive RMB 2000 yuan each.

As previous reported by this Website, The Education Foundation, in recognition of their academic achivement and financial need, has awarded WU, Yi-Long and 27 other students the Shen Yunying Scholarship. They are the first group of current students of Fujian Medical University (FJMU) that are the recipients of the scholarship, a charity project of the AAFMUA Education Foundation.

The Education Foundation is a division of AAFMUA. The trustees of the foundation and the rest of the donors to the foundation believe that their financial supports to the students is a direct way to contribute to the medical community in Fujian.

The ceremony, held in the Student Center of the school, started 4 pm. Approximately 80 people attended the ceremony. Vice President of the school, Mr. HUANG Zhi-Jie gave the opening remark. Dr. LI Tong-Chuan, Honorary President of AAFMUA and Co-Director of the Education Foundation in his speech introduced the Education Foundation and the Scholarship to the audience. Following the remarks by the Dean's office representative about the scholarship, Dr. HUANG Ruoqing, President of AAFMUA announced the name of the recipients.

In the ceremony, one of the recipents and Mr. CHEN Yong-Zheng, an official of the school also gave remarks to the ceremony. Mr. Jiaping LI and Tao LI, son and grandson respetively, of late Dr. Shen Yunying, and Dr. Jizhen LIN, Associate Director of the Education Foundation also attended the ceremony.
