A Letter from Dr. Ruoqing Huang, AAFMUA President
February 4, 2002
Dear AAFMUA members:
I am very pleased to announce that the second term of AAFMUA leaders have been elected by the AAFMUA Working Committee members after the primary nomination by our alumni. Dr. Tongchuan Li has been elected as new President and four new Vice Presidents, Drs. Yishun Lin, Yi-Wu Huang, Defu Zeng and Zhenbo Huang, have also been elected. Your strong support in this new leadership election is highly appreciated.
In the past two years, we have received tremendous support from many of you. With your active participation and support, AAFMUA has edited an Alumni Directory, established a website (www.aafmua.org), received near $10,000 membership fee and donations, and organized several important activities. AAFMUA has been actively involved in academic and clinical exchange with FJMU. More than 30 of AAFMUA alumni visited Fujian Medical University and gave seminars there. Several of our alumni-run research laboratories have received visiting scholars from FJMU. More than 40 of our alumni have been appointed as Guest Professors and many of them have also recently been appointed as leaders of many departments and research institutes in FJMU and its affiliated hospitals. AAFMUA has recently cosponsored an International Cancer Research Symposium in FJMU. We also organized several alumni reunion parties, and helped many alumni in solving the difficulties they faced. All the achievements are contributed by our alumni. There is no single person who could accomplish these. With election of new AAFMUA leadership, I have seen another strong core team which with no doubt will lead us move forward. I sincerely ask your continuous support and participation in AAFMUA activities as you did before.
Lastly, I would like to thank many of you who have strongly supported my work during my presidency. I also highly appreciate the nomination by many of you in the second term AAFMUA leadership election. As I mentioned in the letters before the election, I will not be able to contribute enough time to AAFMUA and join the new leader group because of foreseeing very busy clinical service and research work in the near future. However, as an active AAFMUA member I will continue to try my best to participate in the AAFMUA activity. Under the new leadership, we will continue to work together. Remember, we are a team, a great team that works for our University and ourselves.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Yours,
Ruoqing Huang, M.D., Ph.D.
President of AAFMUA
P.S: AAFMUA is planning to have its Chinese New Year party and General Conference of Alumni to introduce new leaders of AAFMUA on 2/23/02 (Saturday) in New York City. More detail will be sent to you soon. Please reserve the date.

Dear all AAFMUA members:
Thank you for your support to our alumni's organization, AAFMUA has been very successful in the past two years. According to our Bylaws, each term of the AAFMUA leadership is two years. Therefore, we now need to consider the election of second term of AAFMUA leadership. As the first step of election, here we encourage each member of AAFMUA to nominate up to 5 members as the candidates for election of the AAFMUA leaders. You may send in the names of the nominees by e-mail to aafmua@yahoo.com, or by fax to 419-818-0250 before Jan. 10, 2002.
We are also asking each district leader or coordinator to contact all members in your local area, reminding them of the election. For those members without e-mail address in our database, we ask them to send in nomination by fax.
Based on the primary nomination, seven (7) most popular nominees will be chosen as the candidates for the president and 4 vice presidents of AAFMUA. The AAFMUA Working Committee members then will vote to determine the 5 future leaders of AAFMUA.
Should you have any questions regarding the elections, please tell us through e-mail, fax or call our Secretary-General Dr. Yishun Lin at 610-449-0907.
Happy New Year and have a prosperous 2002.
