How to read Chinese on the Internet

In Internet Explorer, you don't always see Chinese charaters displayed properly. If the Webpage written in Chinese was not set to be viewed automatically as a Chinese language page, you would need to select the proper encoding setting. To do so, you may do the following:
From the top manu, click
"View", then
   ->Encoding
to view Simplified Chinese characters (used in Mainland China)
   --->Chinese Simplified (GB2312)
       or Chinese Simplified (HZ)
       or Chinese Simplified (GB18030)
to view Traditional Chinese characters (used in Taiwan, Hongkong, and many other places outside of Mainland China)
   --->Chiness Traditional (Big5)

Sometimes you would need to select "Unicode (UTF-8)" from the Encoding manu to view Chinese characters.

If your Internet Explorer dosen't have these encoding options, you are probably using one of early versions of the browser (v.5 or v.4). You may want to upgrade the browser (Internet Explorer) to a newer version (v.6 or v.7).
