Recent Scientific and Educational Activities
AAFMUA has been working on promotion of scientific and educational exchange between Fujian Medical University and institutes in U.S.A.
Recently, invited by FJMU, Twelve guest professors of FJMU including two non-alumni guest professors (Drs. Ren-Jiang Lin and Yangxin Fu) visited FJMU. In April, Drs. Lurong Zhang (Professor of University of Rochester), Shi-du Yan (Associate Professor of Columbia University), Zao-Dung Lin (Associate Professor of Rush University), Ruoqing Huang (Assistant Professor of Mount Sinai Medical School/NYU, Attending Pathologist), De-fu Zeng (Assistant Professor of Beckman Institute, City of Hope National Medical Center) and Ren-Jiang Lin (Professor of Beckman Institute, City of Hope National Medical Center) attended a scientific Symposium, Biomedical Science Symposium, 2005 in FJMU (see following pictures) and presented their research work.
Also in April, Drs Leiping Chen (Professor of Johns Hopkins University), Yangxin Fu (Professor of University of Chicago, Attanding Pathologist), and Ke Zhang (Associate Professor of UCLA) attended a special Immunology Symposium in FJMU. The guest professors also attended several meetings with the University leaders, giving their sincere comments and constructive suggestions on research and medical education in FJMU. They also visited the research laboratories over there and enhanced the research cooperation between some of labs.
Drs Ruoqing Huang, Zao-dung Lin, De-fu Zeng, Ren-jiang Lin, Yangxin Fu and Xian Chen (Assistant Professor of University of Michigan, Attending Physician) also gave seminars in The Second Affiliated Hospital of FJMU in Quanzhou. More recently, Drs Ke-he Ruan (Associate Professor of University of Texas) and Ken Chen (Director of Transgenic mouse facility, Albert Einstein Medical College) visited FJMU and research labs and established their research cooperation. Dr. De-fu Zeng and Ke-he Ruan also invited postdoctoral fellows to work in their labs after their visit to FJMU.
We strongly believe that these scientific and educational activities will benefit both FJMU and our alumnis institutes and we are looking forward to more such mutually beneficial activity.
